A Little Think

Our Pass

Looking for a personalized gift to give at Christmas? Let this inspire you. My grandchild Lillian, seven, was over-the-top excited about the family picnic they prepared this fall. At the last minute, her dad found himself up against deadlines and absolutely could not go on the picnic. He was apologetic and disappointed, as he was unable to get away for even an hour or two. Lillian was quick to the rescue. No problem, she knew just what to do. "Daddy," she said after running upstairs and down again with a piece of paper in her hand. "You can use my 'Homework Pass' and go with us!" She was serious about her offer.

So was God, when He gave us a pass by sending His only Son Jesus Christ to earth at Christmas. Through His life, death and resurrection, Jesus did our homework. He was the pass, to bring us home to heaven through faith at the end of our lives. God's grace brings us back to Himself now and for eternity. An easy way to remember what the word "grace" means, is to say what G-R-A-C-E is: God's Riches At Christ's Expense.

That gift is paid for in full and here's the clincher -- it has your name on it. All you need to do is thank Him! And then open it, of course, for a lifetime of forgiveness and equipping, rescue and reward. Have a little think about that the next time you're up against a deadline and have to miss whatever picnic is planned!
