It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so! -Mark Twain

Minnesota Wild Rice Soup from Ruby Prochnow

3/4 c. of uncooked wild rice
7 - 10 slices of crisp crumbled bacon, cooked chicken, or ham
1 can of drained mushrooms
1 c. half and half,
4 chicken flavored boullion cubes
4 c. water (I use chicken broth from a cooked chicken or from the box)
2 Tbsp butter
1 can of cream of mushroom soup
Chopped celery

Combine rice, bacon, ham or chicken, mushrooms, half and half, boullion cubes, water, butter, mushroom soup and celery in a crockpot and cook on high for 4 hours or low all day.

Ruby and I ducked into a market on the way to the airport and I bought some broken, cheaper/ rice! I'm always looking for a way to cut pennies..which I then spent on "Oh Henry!" bars! I mean, when was the last time you saw "Oh Henry!" bars? They'll be favors for my 4 year old grandson, Henry, who's visiting from the UK. He'll be impressed! So will you...with September's recipes!
