Nancy Flowers, Pastor Roger Sonnenberg

Featured on Woman to Woman on May 22, 2010.

Nancy Flowers has been involved in full-time ministry for 20 years. Previously, she had a successful career at Chicago-based WMAQ-TV. Her experiences - both personal and ministerial - provide her with valuable insight into tough topics like abuse. Drawing from her past, she offers hope and encouragement to others who have been negatively impacted by abuse in their lives. Flowers is particularly dedicated to protecting the innocence of children. For her first book, Tell Somebody It Happened To Me, she created the characters of Jacob and Josie to show children how to respond to inappropriate behavior. Her desire is to spare as many children as possible from becoming adults who struggle with issues that could have been prevented.

Flowers and her husband, Victor, have been married 33 years and live in Bourbonnais, Illinois. They are the parents of four children and have four grandchildren.

Pastor Roger Sonnenberg holds a master of divinity degree from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis and a master's degree in psychotherapy from the American Institute of Family Relations in Los Angeles. He pastors a congregation in Arcadia, California, and serves as a part-time professor in the graduate marriage and family program at Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska. He also conducts seminars throughout the United States in sexuality, marriage, and family relations.

Sonnenberg is the first vice president of the Pacific Southwest District, as well as chairman of the board of directors. He serves as chairman of Family Shield in St. Louis and is a member of the Nightlight Adoption board of Orange County. He has authored many articles, studies and books, including Parenting with Purpose, and Parenting with Values, (two video-based parenting programs), 501 Ways to Love Your Wife and Children, 501 ways to Love Your Grandkids and Their Parents, Human Sexuality: A Christian Perspective (Learning About Sex Series), and Advent and Lenten Worship Services.

Sonnenberg and his wife Robin have been married for 30 years and have one son, Jacob.
