Cindy Steinbeck Newkirk

Featured on Woman to Woman on November 07, 2009.

Cindy Steinbeck-Newkirk is a fifth generation Paso Robles farmer working with her parents, husband, son, and daughter-in-law at Steinbeck Vineyards & Winery. She is president of their various businesses and serves as director of marketing in charge of sales and public relations. Newkirk brought a creative philanthropic opportunity to fruition in a program called Vineyards Growing VeggiesTM. Volunteers tend the one-acre, year-round garden and the produce they process -- 8,000 pounds/meals last summer alone -- is donated to the food bank for distribution throughout San Luis Obispo County.

Newkirk holds a master of arts in history and theology from Concordia University Irvine. She serves on the board of regents for her alma mater and on the board of directors for the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance. Newkirk writes a daily devotional called NEWK-IT!, which is distributed via e-mail. She teaches a weekly Bible study at Trinity Lutheran Church and travels extensively leading retreats and speaking at conventions. She and her husband Tim have been married 27 years and have raised two children.

Two Web sites provide additional information on Steinbeck wine and vineyard operations: www.steinbeckwines.com and www.thewineyard.com.
