Featured on Woman to Woman on August 29, 2009.

St. Louis native Olive Wise Spannaus was married to Lutheran Pastor Ruben Spannaus until his death in 2006. Consistently involved in the life of the Church and other related activities, over the years Spannaus has worked with the Parent-Teachers Association, the LWML, community choir, women's guild, Lutheran Human Relations Association Children's Hospital Guild, United Good Neighbors, and The Community Fund. With the League of Women Voters and National Council of Christians and Jews, she presented a series of workshops, Rearing Children of Good Will. She was the first woman elected to the English District Board of Directors and was appointed by then-President Preus of the LCMS to the first LCMS Task Force on Women in the Church.

Spannaus co-wrote with her husband The Total Woman versus the Shalom Woman. She has penned hymns, which appear in the Lutheran Book of Worship, Evangelical Lutheran Worship, Lutheran Service Book, and other denominational hymnals.

Spannaus has four children, ten grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys leading women's events, singing in the choir, participating in the League of Women Voters, and reading.
