Dr. H. Norman Wright

Dr. H. Norman Wright is a licensed marriage, family, and child therapist. Formerly the director of the Graduate Department of Marriage, Family and Child Counseling at Biola University in La Mirada, California, he is also an associate professor of psychology there. Concurrently, he is a research professor of Christian Education at Talbot School of Theology, where he has also served as director of the Graduate Department of Christian Education. He has operated a private practice for over thirty years.

Wright has penned more than 70 books, including Experiencing Grief, The New Guide to Crisis & Trauma Counseling, Recovering from Losses in Life, Quiet Times for Couples, and Before You Say "I Do".

Wright's present focus is in grief and trauma counseling and critical incident debriefings. Part of his work is developing curricula in loss, crisis, and trauma, as well as community-wide grief-recovery seminars. He has conducted workshops, debriefings, and coordinated numerous training seminars for various health departments, police and fire department personnel, and other community and civic organizations. Part of his specialty is working with parents of children or teenagers who have died or have been killed.

Wright and his wife Joyce were married for 48 years; he lives in Bakersfield, California. His hobbies include bass fishing, gardening, and training his Golden Retrievers, Shadow and Aspen, as therapy-response dogs.
