Emily Ballance

Featured on Woman to Woman on December 07, 2008.

A nationally recognized speaker and licensed professional counselor, Emily Ballance travels across the country speaking on humor, stress management, communication, generations, and other topics. She brings her refreshing wit and understanding of people to every presentation. Her success as a speaker can be attributed to her unique ability to find humor in ordinary events and relate to all types of people without pretense. Drawing from her experiences in healthcare, the corporate world, her counseling practice, and in life, Emily offers a humorous perspective on the challenges of work, change, stress, and life in general.

Emily holds master of education and bachelor of arts degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has over 20 years of experience in the field of counseling. She is a former lecturer and counselor at Duke University and has authored numerous articles on humor and health. In Los Angeles, she was a wellness consultant and trainer for "StayWell" - a highly successful and innovative employee assistance program of Control Data Corporation.

Emily is a member of the National Speakers Association and the Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor. Her unique and humorous presentation style makes her a popular keynote speaker at regional, state, and national conferences. When she is not speaking and traveling, Emily volunteers her time with older adults and the Autism Society of North Carolina. She is committed to helping people use positive, affirming humor to enhance their health, happiness, work, and well-being.
