Ellie Kay, Sue Knowles, and the Bacon Family
Featured on Woman to Woman on November 09, 2008.
For over 36 of the last 51 months, Susan Knowles has experienced firsthand the unique stresses of war-time deployment on Guard and Reserve families. Her experience as a military spouse drastically changed on 9/11 as her husband, an Army National Guard Chaplain, was called to duty as a first responder to the terrorist attacks, and subsequently served in Iraq and now Afghanistan. Susan and her three kids have learned the difficulties of juggling life in the civilian world with life in a war zone, and from that, they strive to help others who are struggling through war time separation. It is her privilege to be among God's people at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Lockport, NY, as they reach out with compassion and practical support among military service members and their loved ones throughout their area.
