Start your own chapter of the Woman to Woman Book Club
Starting your own chapter of the Woman to Woman Book Club is easy! You don’t need a large group. Sometimes, smaller groups of five to six people may be best as they encourage more discussion and feel more personal. However, if attendance falls off, the discussions might suffer. You can find members in all aspects of your life - from family and friends to church members or co-workers—whomever you think would enjoy it. Invitations can be as elaborate as a formal mailed invitation or as casual as a verbal "You should join us."

When you've determined your guest list, you'll need to settle on a location. The type of location you choose will be based on the group dynamics. For example, if your club consists of you and your four closest friends…you may want to set up a schedule for each of you to take turns hosting the club. However, if you have a larger group, you may want to look for space in a local library, community center, your church or a favorite restaurant that could handle a larger group.
Scheduling your book club chapter meetings is also important. It helps to have a clearly defined window for meeting scheduling. For example, many chapters schedule by setting a specific day of the month, such as the third Thursday of each month, etc. This allows the members to always know when the meetings are being held without scheduling the next meeting each time.
Remember, just because you may be the organizer of the chapter, doesn't mean you have to host the meetings each month! Some book club chapters meet at a different member’s home each time. In fact, some rotate hosting and snack/beverage responsibilities. For example, Jane might be hosting this month’s meeting but her guests bring the snacks and drinks. Next month, Alice hosts, etc. Drinks and snacks aren't required, but can be an enjoyable part of the meetings.

Many chapters allow the host of each month’s meetings to moderate the discussions for each selection. Some appoint a designated moderator who does so regardless of who is hosting. Others don’t have a moderator at all and let the discussion flow freely. You and your group can decide which feels more comfortable for you. Remember the Woman to Woman Book Club provides the discussion topics and questions—so the hard part is already done!
