Mary Beth Chapman co-wrote Choosing to SEE: A Journey of Struggle and Hope with Ellen Vaughn, a New York Times bestselling author and inspirational speaker. Chapman is also a public speaker at such events as Women of Faith conferences.

In Choosing to SEE, Chapman shares her personal journey from her childhood to the challenges of married life to the sudden and tragic loss of her daughter, Maria Sue. Choosing to SEE follows her lifelong wrestling match with God, questioning why the life she planned so carefully hasn't seemed to match the plan God has mapped out for her. The book also explores Chapman's relationship with God in the face of the unexpected loss of her daughter and the pain of such a brutal loss. In her book, she writes, "I have cried so many tears mixed with the sadness of missing Maria and the joy of remembering her!" Throughout these pages, she tackles some of life's toughest questions with grace, grit, insight and, most of all, hope.

Chapman has been married for 25 years to Steven Curtis Chapman, an award-winning contemporary Christian musician. In 2001 this couple with six children began an adoption organization, Show Hope, which offers assistance to families in the process of adoption by helping tear down the financial barrier that prevents many from bringing an adopted child into their home. To date, Show Hope has given over 2,500 financial grants, affecting the lives of children from 45 different countries, including the U.S.. Show Hope also empowers families, churches and communities with adoption and orphan care resources and advocacy efforts.
