As a documentary film producer and director, Ann McElhinney has covered some controversial issues. In 2008 she produced and directed Not Evil Just Wrong, a film examining the consequences of the global warming hysteria. In 2006 she produced and directed Mine Your Own Business (2006) -- the first documentary asking difficult questions of the environmental movement. As a result, 80 non-governmental organizations (NGO), including Greenpeace, called for the film to be banned when it was screened in the National Geographic auditorium in Washington. Additionally, she has also made documentaries for the BBC, CBC (Canada) and RTE (Ireland).

McElhinney has written or otherwise contributed to FOX News, ABC (US), BBC, CBC (Canada), ABC (Australia), RTE (Ireland), The Sunday Times and The Irish Times. As a journalist and filmmaker, she has worked internationally in Canada, Romania, Bulgaria, Chile, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, Ghana and Uganda. She communicates her message as a public speaker. In her work as a documentary filmmaker, she works with her husband Phelim McAleer.
