'Woman to Woman' Host Phyllis Wallace Retires
Woman to Woman with Phyllis Wallace, a weekly syndicated radio program produced by Lutheran Hour Ministries, will end its run at the end of August, when Wallace retires as the program's host.
"Woman to Woman has been one of the mainstays of our organization's ministry offerings," says LHM Executive Director Bruce Wurdeman. "It has been the perfect vehicle for the kind of soul Phyllis has: poetic yet down to earth-and enlivened and fueled by her love for Jesus. Woman to Woman has blessed so many-and that includes all of us at LHM who have had the privilege of working with Phyllis!"
Wallace created Woman to Woman in 1991 to air on St. Louis radio station KFUO-AM. Lutheran Hour Ministries picked up the program in 1993 and expanded it to 400 stations in syndication. "I have enjoyed my time behind the microphone and I am glad the Lord has allowed me to reach so many men and women through Woman to Woman," says Wallace, whose 1,400 broadcasts have featured such guests as Charles Schulz, Lynne Cheney, Betty Ford, Joni Eareckson Tada and Amy Grant.
"God gave me a dream and He's made a lot of that dream come true," she continues. "To have the privilege of lifting Jesus higher through people's stories of faith under fire has been awesome. I am looking forward to the ministry opportunities the Lord is preparing for me next."
"We are very thankful for Phyllis' faithful service to the Lord," says the Rev. Dr. Mark Larson, director of United States Ministries for LHM. "Conversations with her are always seasoned with Scripture; this shows her commitment to know and share God's Word as an integral part of who she is. And this has always been evident in her ministry. We are confident that God will bless her richly as she continues to share His Word in the next chapter of her life."
Larson added that while new episodes of Woman to Woman will no longer be produced, Lutheran Hour Ministries will continue to explore ministry opportunities that address issues of interest and concern to women. Previous Woman to Woman programs will be archived and will continue to be available at www.womantowomanradio.com.
